Amelia is a morning news anchor, traffic anchor, and reporter for Saint Louis FOX affiliate, KTVI. 

Career Highlights

  • Amelia is a proud graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, earning a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism.
  • In December of 2023, Amelia got the amazing opportunity to move back to her hometown of Dallas-Fort Worth, TX and join the news team at CBS News Texas as a reporter and fill-in anchor.
  • Amelia previously worked at KTVI in Saint Louis, MO from 2021-2023, holding positions as main anchor of Fox 2/News 11’s Midday show from 11 a.m. – noon, the morning traffic anchor for Saint Louis’ #1-rated morning show, Fox 2 News in the Morning, and fill-in anchor for primetime 5,6,7,9, and 10 p.m. newscasts.
  • Amelia has covered a historic deadly tornado that leveled an Amazon factory, as well as historic flooding in the summer of 2022 that made national news.
  • Before coming to Saint Louis, Amelia was a general assignment reporter for the Tulsa, Oklahoma CBS affiliate, KOTV News on 6. Amelia covered a variety of historic news events: historic Oklahoma floods in 2019, the COVID-19 pandemic, tornado damage, President Trump holding a rally in Tulsa, and participated in 2020 election coverage.
  • Amelia Mugavero was a multi-media journalist and weekend anchor at KTEN News in Denison, Texas from 2017-2019, where she reported on people, places and events in North Texas and Southeast Oklahoma.
  • Amelia has produced investigative pieces, such as the spike of road rage in Texoma, and high incarceration rates, and wrongful convictions in Oklahoma.
  • She also started her own series titled “Those Who Serve” to highlight people and veterans who go above and beyond.
  • Amelia has experience writing, producing and shooting stories as an intern for Fox and CBS TV affiliates in Texas and Illinois, and she was part of KDFW’s team covering the fatal ambush of Dallas police officers in July 2016.

Personal Achievements

  • Honors include admission to the James Scholar Honors Program at UIUC and the Illinois Broadcasters Foundation Scholarship.
  • Amelia is a world champion baton twirler and feature twirler for the Marching Illini.
  • Miss Central Illinois in 2015 and 2017, and was first-runner up to Miss Illinois 2016 through the Miss America Organization.
